Small Antique English Watercolour of Flowers and Butterfly
Watercolour on paper depicting a butterfly with fuschia and forget-me-not, circa 1850 (from an album compiled between 1831 and 1865), English. In the language of flowers which was a means of communication in the 19th century, forget-me=nots symbolised love, memories and of course do not forget me, while the fuschia historically represented confiding love and trust.
