Small Antique English Watercolour of Butterfly and Flowers
Watercolour on paper depicting an exotic butterfly with forget-me-nots and two closed red rosebuds, circa 1850, from an album compiled between 1831 and 1865, English, in period gilt frame. In the language of flowers which was very much considered in the 19th century, the forget-me-not symbolizes love, memories and of course do not forget me, while the closed red rosebud symbolizes hope.
